Teeth Whitening

Aesthetic dentistry, supported by the latest technology, is a discipline that requires many branches such as periodontology, prosthesis, conservative treatment, surgery and orthodontics to work together, sequentially and harmoniously.

What are the Aesthetic Dentistry Applications?

  • Elimination of gaps between teeth,
  • Correction of broken and damaged teeth,
  • Treatment of small, conical, short, facing teeth,
  • Correction of small dental crookedness (orthodontic treatment is performed if the crookedness is large),
  • Removing or masking different color tones on the teeth,
  • Teeth whitening,
  • Treatment of dark discolorations on the gums,
  • Various interventions for gums that appear more than necessary,
  • Digital smile design,
  • Regulation of lip lines,
  • Composite or porcelain laminate applications,
  • Classic or zircon porcelain crown and bridge prostheses,
  • Implant applications,
  • Aesthetic applications for gums.

Aesthetic Applications for Gums

The appearance of the gums is an important element in terms of oral and dental aesthetics, especially smile. In aesthetic gum applications, also known as 'pink aesthetics', treatments are performed for excessively visible or asymmetrical gum levels and color changes in the gums.

Soft tissue procedures such as lengthening the length of teeth and correcting the color of dark gums through interventions on the gums are within this scope. Nowadays, thanks to technological developments, surgical interventions and clinical treatments for gums are easier and more painless than old methods, and the healing process takes less time.

Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)

In oral and dental aesthetics, it is important that the teeth appear white and bright. Whitening is the process of removing yellow, brown and orange stains on the enamel and dentin layer. Today, medical and technological developments for teeth whitening have simplified the procedures and shortened the treatment time.

In oral and dental aesthetics, it is important that the teeth appear white and bright. Whitening is the process of removing yellow, brown and orange stains on the enamel and dentin layer. Today, medical and technological developments for teeth whitening have simplified the procedures and shortened the treatment time.

The dentist takes measurements of the patient's mouth and prepares thin rubber molds to be placed on the teeth. The medicine is placed in these molds. The patient wears this mold for the time recommended by the dentist (usually an average of 6-8 hours a day).

The home whitening method usually takes 1-2 weeks. Which method to apply is decided depending on the color and degree of the stain, the time the patient will spare for treatment and the dentist's opinion. In some cases, clinical and home practices can be carried out together.

Whitening applications are suitable for patients aged 15 and over. Getting successful results from the whitening process and maintaining the white-shiny appearance of the teeth depends on regular care and eating and drinking habits.

Laminated Veneers (Leaf Laminate Veener)

Laminated veneers, also known as leaf porcelain; These are coatings applied to our front teeth for aesthetic reasons. In leaf porcelain, minimum material is abraded from the front surfaces of the teeth, creating space for laminates with very high light transmittance. Leaf laminates are very advantageous in terms of aesthetics.

E-Max Coatings

E-max veneers are the type of veneer closest to nature in terms of light transmittance and aesthetic harmony, which do not contain any infrastructure and are obtained entirely from glassy compressed porcelain called IPS e-max. Since the material can be applied very thinly, it allows less tooth cutting. In this way, teeth become less sensitive. Although the material is thin, its durability is high.

Composite Lamina Application (Bonding)

It is a method that refers to the additions made to the tooth, especially in the treatment of fractures and cracks in the preliminary work, as well as for the purpose of changing shape and color. First, the color of the composite material to be bonded is harmonized with the color of the natural teeth. The teeth are then lightly filed and a gel is applied to adhere the composite material. After the composite material is applied, it is seated on the tooth and hardened with high-intensity light. It is then polished for a natural look.

Inlay - Onlay Applications

In classical caries treatment, after the decay in the teeth is cleaned, the gap left is filled with metal or tooth-colored composite fillings.

Since appearance comes to the fore along with durability in aesthetic dentistry applications, new methods have been developed. For example, ceramic fillings are used in the method called inlay and onlay. In this method; After cleaning the decay, the resulting cavity is measured and a ceramic filling is prepared according to this size in the laboratory environment. This filling is bonded to the tooth with substances that do not harm the tissue.

Inlay and onlay applications are advantageous and preferred applications in that they fully adapt to the tooth, are the same color as the tooth, and are durable and long-lasting as they do not leak intra-oral fluids. If the dentist deems it appropriate, onlay fillings can be preferred instead of veneers in teeth with large material loss. In this case, first of all, root canal treatment is applied to the tooth, if necessary, simple surgical corrections are made on the gum, and then an onlay filling is placed on the tooth.

Since the risk of fracture of the tooth or filling is quite low in onlay filling, the treatment can be completed without the need for a crown.
